Lost in Play review friv game - A wonderful adventure for children and adults

Lost in Play from an online game developer Friv2Online Games Studio for those who missed two seasons of Gravity Falls, a funny and inventive adventure of a brother and sister lost in their own imagination. What trials threatens the journey through the world of dreams, we tell in our review.

The plot of Lost in Play can be described in one sentence: brother and sister, Toto and Gel, played, got lost in the vastness of their imagination and are now looking for a way home. The whole game is a long journey, during which the characters find themselves in different locations, communicate with bizarre characters (one of them, a cheerful bearded fairy, accompanies the children throughout the adventure) and look for a way out of the situations they encounter.

What is more important here is not “what”, but “how”, not the final goal (although it is definitely important), but how teenagers will get to it. There are enough interesting scenes in the friv game: sometimes the heroes find themselves in the middle of an endless sea, then they rise to a heavenly city, or even get captured by an ambitious goblin.

Casual acquaintances help them get out of trouble, although Toto and Gel are not averse to helping those who need it - for example, removing an unlucky skydiver from a tree or collecting sheep scattered around the area. The game teaches not to leave your neighbor in trouble - why not a visual aid for kids?

The protagonists are very much like the heroes of the Gravity Falls mentioned above: Toto, like Dipper, is more reasonable and calm, while Gel is eccentric and in a good way crazy, like Mabel. Children, however, do not have unique skills, and the game periodically shuffles them, offering to play either as a brother or a sister.

The game is similar to the Alex Hirsch show not only in the characters of the protagonists, but also in the art and, most importantly, in humor. Even the gibberish spoken by the characters makes you smile, let alone the cutscenes and funny animations that Lost in Play is rich in. Each location is full of details, and funny creatures are touching with their behavior. My personal favorites are that bearded fairy and goblin with speech impediments and megalomania.

In their adventure, the heroes face a variety of challenges that they need to overcome. Lost in Play is designed for a young and adult player, however, it is not too easy to let a gamer experienced in quests get bored.

Its gameplay is divided into two parts: puzzles, in which you need to use items from the inventory, and mini-games with different rules. Everything is clear with the first ones: we rummage through the locations, collect everything that lies badly, and think where to apply it - and you don’t even need to combine objects with each other. Mini-games are much more sophisticated: there are races with a mad bear, and a card game with goblins, and checkers, and much more. Before the friv game, the rules are explained to us in detail, and in a difficult situation, you can use a hint - although it will only push you to the right decision, it will by no means accept it for you.

These mini-games seem to have been collected from all over the world; at least a few of them I've met before, and it's not just about checkers. To be honest, a skip button would not hurt to pass them, since not all games may seem interesting to a gamer, and he will have to overcome himself in order to overcome a boring section and go further along the storyline.

Fortunately, this is the only complaint about the charming Lost in Play. The game is a small masterpiece that deserves its place among the best point & click adventures. If you love such projects, don't miss the fresh work of Happy Juice Games!
